Cotton farmers in Aurangabad still widely rely upon out dated inefficient irrigation practices, thus not only depleting ground water but also limiting the yield. The Dilasa drip irrigation project under the Umbrella Programme on Natural Resource Management is built after the success of the watershed development program in Aurangabad and the subsequent increase in water availability, by fostering sustainable agriculture and effective water resource management technologies. By introducing drip irrigation systems in place of flood irrigation, the project has enabled farmers to enhance the per unit production of their arable land, resulting in a better income while sustaining their natural resources.
